It is a great marketing tool. There is no strong evidence to support that "stem cells" enhance your results. Marketing....marketing.
Fat that is transferred has stem cells in it already. What you are probably referring to is fat transfer (BBL) with PRP (platelet rich plasma). To the best of my knowledge fat transfer with PRP hasn't demonstrated any significant increase in volume or take with fat transfer. PRP has been shown to be effective to treat some medical problems like lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow). I would have an honest talk with your board certified plastic surgeon and ask about the evidence of the superiority (if any of a "stem cell BBL" given that all BBLs involve the transfer of stem cells already existing within the fat.I hope this helps!
Hi- Stem cell BBL is the same as a traditional BBL and is only a marketing term. The fat cells that are transferred/grafted to your buttock for the procedure are fat stem cells. Please be sure to go over all your questions and concerns in detail with your board certified plastic surgeon so you are comfortable. Good Luck and I'm sure you will love your result!!!
Its actually a misnomer as all harvested fat contains "stem cells." In the recent past, some surgeons added PRP (cellular derivate from the patient's blood) thinking it would improve fat viability and take. There is no science behind this (the norm for cosmetic medicine). Its simply an advertising hustle. A good result after a BBL are more a function of careful surgical technique and precision.
All fat grafts contain stem cells, a lot off doctors are using the two terms synonymous these days. Actually adding stems cells from other sources or prp (which it's a growth factors not stem cells) has not been shown to increase fat graft survival, through prs journal studies. Also, the fda now classifies and regulates the addition of any combination or altered biologic as s drug, which requires significant oversight. So I would ask any surgeon performing stem cell procedures exactly what they are injecting and if they are in compliance with the fda.
A good candidate has enough fat available for transfer in the procedure. The amount of fat that can be transferred in a BBL depends on how much fat the patient has to harvest and the amount of space there is to move the fat into. It is recommended for the patient to have a BMI of 30 or less. If...
