Will wearing a supportive bra help minimize the stretching of the areolas afterwards?

I am a 23 years old women and im having a areola reduction (no lift) with local anesthesia. He will be doing the purse sting technique. I understand wearing a good bra for the first month of so promote healing and reduced swelling but will wearing a supportive bra afterwards for the next 6 months or so help the stretching fo the areolas?

every surgeon has a preferred type of bra that they let their patients wear after breast surgery, as this would depend on various factors like the type of surgery performed. You should discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon and follow his or her advice.

Yes, if you can support the breast, it will place less stretch on the areolae and help decrease the risk of widening. The skin of the areola is the most stretchy skin of your breast and is prone to widen over time.

Yes, wearing a supportive, well fitting bra may help to prevent further tension on the incisions which may in turn help prevent stretching of the tissues.  It does not guarantee that it will not happen, but it may help.  It is important to closely follow the post operative instructions given by your surgeon.
