Yes - the first step is to try to soften that with steroid injected into the scar, deep. That should help soften it and improve things. If that is ineffective, it is possible to (right in the office) go in and remove some of the scar tissue and recontour the tissue.

Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. As a rule, intralesional injections of corticosteroids, such as triamcinolone, as well as other injectable anti-inflammatory agents (alone or in combination with triamcinolone) are the first line treatments for shrinking scar tissue from all causes. Experienced physicians typically follow an algorithm for treating scar tissue consisting of varying agents, concentrations and combinations to achieve the desired result. Should shrinkage of the underlying scar lead to some sagging or laxity of the chin, a robust HA filler may subsequently be needed to achieve a desirable final aesthetic outcome.
