Swollen lats - normal? (Photo)

Question

Is the swelling under breasts normal ? I have some definition in my lats I know, prior to surgery. But I feel it's looking very swollen. Any cause for concern ?

Thank you for your question and photograph.  The tissues surrounding the area of surgery can swell, as your body holds on to extra water during times of injury or stress.  This swelling normally resolves over the first few weeks after surgery and should not affect your outcome.  If your swelling does not show steady improvement, or worsens, best to have an in-person evaluation by your surgeon to ensure all is well.

Thank you for your question.  From your question it is not obvious how much time has passed from the time of surgery.  However, it is very common for the abdominal and flank region to feel swollen and bloated after surgery as swelling does move down with gravity.  It should get better with each weak that passes by.

the swelling is normal for the next few weeks after the procedure if you get to the week 4 then you might want to visit your surgeon and get a check up.

Thank you for the question and the photographs. It can be normal to have swelling below the breasts after augmentation. This is due to the fact that the edema (soft tissue water) moves downward while you are in the standing position, due to gravity. What one would also need to know is the amount of time elapsed since your operation as this should resolve the further out you are. I hope this helps. Best wishes.
