I’m scheduled for a septorhinoplasty next month with an ENT to correct my deviated septum. My nose was broken and I developed a dorsal hump, my nose is slightly crooked and dents in on the left side. The ENT said I’ll have an open procedure. He will correct the deviation, insert grafts, do a turbinate reduction & shave down the hump a bit. He said my tip is fine and won’t be touched. He also said my nose will look slightly wider. This scares me. I want to look like myself! What can I expect?

Answer: What can I expect from septorhinoplasty next month with an ENT to correct my deviated septum? (Photos) Hello @clma85 and Thank you for your question! An otolaryngologist treats the functional part of the nose. It is the responsibility of a plastic surgeon to take care of all aspects of aesthetics so that everything remains proportionate and harmonious. Our aim in the work of patients in rhinoplasty surgery is a natural result associated with a complete correction of the functional problem. What you can expect is that the functional problem is corrected. Our aim in the work of patients in rhinoplasty surgery is a natural result associated with a complete correction of the functional problem, which is why we always involve an ENT specialist in every rhinoplasty procedure so each specialist can pinpoint what needs to be corrected. We never perform open rinhoplasty, only closed rinhoplasty during the same surgical procedure. Due to our 20 years of experience, we can achieve satisfactory results with a single closed technique, I'm linking a video about open and closed technique to shed some light. Best wishes!

Answer: Have you had computer imaging with your surgeon? Computer imaging may be a helpful way to get an idea what to expect after rhinoplasty surgery. You appear to have thin nasal skin which tends to show irregularities after rhinoplasty more so than thicker skin types. Based on your photos and your concerns, consider getting a second opinion from another reputable rhinoplasty specialist. Hope this helps you. Dr Joseph

Answer: Rhinoplasty Did the surgeon also say the bones would be broken. You don’t mention that but it’s important. Maybe that’s why you were told the nose would be wider

Answer: What can I expect from a septoplasty and rhinoplasty A septoplasty is performed in the back of the nose to improve air flow dynamics, while a rhinoplasty can be performed simultaneously under one anesthesia with one recovery period. Consider a double board-certified ENT/facial plastic surgeon to perform both procedures. Rhinoplasty is THE most difficult operation to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery, so choose your rhinoplasty surgeon based on extensive experience. You also have a difficult nose based on the photographs presented. A closed rhinoplasty approach can accomplish shaving down the dorsal hump,Narrowing the bridge line, insertion of cartilaginous spreader graphs in the midportion of the nose, especially on the left side which is indented. All the incisions are placed on the inside of the nose.Digital computer imaging of your nose upon your facial features would be helpful to understand what can be accomplished with a rhinoplasty upon your nose with your facial features.
