I have a short jawline and always have a double chin. I have one immensely when I turn my head to the side because of my short chin and chubbier cheeks. I’m not sure if chin lipo would be good or if it would make me look weird?
Answer: Chin implant surgery and Neck liposuction may be considered. Based on your photos, you may have an excessive amount of subcutaneous fat in your neck and combined with a slightly weak chin appearance, this may be leading to your dissatisfaction. The combination of a chin implant and Necklipo suction can lead to incredible results in so far as improvement of somebody's jawline. I hope this helps that I wish you well moving forward. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Answer: Chin liposuction It appears from the photos that you would benefit from chin and jawline liposuction. This would provide greater definition to your lower face and jawline. If you feel that your chin lacks anterior projection, then chin filler or an implant is a consideration.

Answer: Would I be a better candidate for chin liposuction, filler or chin implant? To make a better determination, a full set of facial and neck photographs from all angles would be much more helpful. From the very limited side profile photograph, you appear to have a recessive chin and fat deposits located in the neck, most likely above and below your platysma muscle. Liposuction alone can only remove fat deposits above the muscle, which would give you only a minimal amount of improvement. Strongly consider placement of a chin implant to augment your chin forward for better structural support for the soft tissues in the neck. You most likely have fat deposits located below the muscle in your neck, which is going to require a necklift/ contouring procedure with three small incisions to remove that fat deposit underneath the muscle itself, and then perform a plasma plasty to significantly improve the jawline. All this can be performed under a brief general anesthesia as outpatient surgery

Answer: Treatment options The best treatment options are generally treatments that address the primary problem. In your case, these issues all stem from having mandible that is relatively small in relationship to your maxilla.Growing a bigger mandible is not really possible. Extending the mandible is possible, but is an operation. Most people are not willing to go through. A chin implant only addresses the chin itself. it doesn’t extend the body of demandable. The indication for a chin implant is individuals who have a chin that doesn’t project.Try to see the chin as being a separate assessment than the body of the mandible.Extending the mandible is not realistic so treatment options really come down to treating issues that don’t address the primary problem.Well done Liposuction can give very good improvements, especially in young chubby people. Finding someone who is exceptionally good at neck, Liposuction is much more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who mastered this procedure is quite small. There are massive differences in skill among providers. The indication for a chin implant is if the chin itself does not project. In your case, you have slight chin projection.Overdoing chin augmentation can give a masculine appearance and forward projection will always deepen the labioMental fold. In the end, finding the right provider is probably even more important than which treatment you choose. There’s room for improvement with slight augmentation of your mandible so the combination is probably going to do best.To get a good assessment from a facial, skeletal perspective consider consulting with oral surgeons. You can also also consult with plastic surgeons who tend to be more soft tissue oriented.Sliding genioplasty is also a possibility.Recognize that whenever we apply procedures that don’t address the primary problem. The best people should expect is a partial improvement.Best,Matt Hagstrom, MD.
