The cost of an abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, will vary considerably from patient to patient and from surgeon to surgeon, depending on many factors. In my practice, tummy tucks range from a limited procedure involving a shorter scar for patients with an overhanging pouch of skin after C-section or other gynecologic surgery to an "extended abdominoplasty with suction" for patients with extensive skin excess and thicker fat layers. Both of these are unusual extremes. In between are the usual types of procedures, a standard tummy tuck without suction when there is skin excess and muscle looseness ( laxity) or an abdominolipoplasty which also includes suction of the abdomen and flanks. The fees range accordingly. When I quote fees, they include everything including pre-and post op care, facility ( operating room), anaesthesia, overnight care and GST. Many surgeons do not keep their patients overnight; I believe it is both safer and considerably more comfortable for patients and I have never had a patient who regretted overnight care. Because of the comprehensive care, the total fee may be higher than some of my colleagues, but this is not something you should be choosing on the basis of "price". Currently, standard abdominoplasty total fees are about $13,000, abdominoplasty with suction is about $14,700. Always check your surgeon's experience, safety record and that he or she is a member of the appropriate professional organizations ( canadian society for Aesthetic (cosmetic ) plastic surgery (CSAPS), american society for aesthetic plastic surgery (ASAPS).
