Question

I am 7 days post rhinoplasty and just had my cast taken off. My nose is noticeably uneven and looks crooked. I am aware that my nose will swell more in a couple days, but I didn’t think it would look like this right when the cast was removed. I hear others talk about the way their nose looks once the cast is taken off is close to what the final result will be. I am really unhappy with how it looks. Is this normal?

Thank you for your question. It is normal to be surprised at their appearance as soon as their cast is taken off, but it is important to keep in mind that this look is not final. It can take up to 12 months to heal fully from rhinoplasty - please evaluate your final result once you are finished with your healing process. Always work with your board certified facial plastic surgeon.

hello. Many times there is significant swelling after rhinoplasty and iou must be patient to evaluate the results. It is best to visit your surgeon and he can review all of this with you

Thank you for your question. 
With any nasal surgery, the name of the game is patience. At one week, we would expect you to have quite a bit of swelling and bruising still noticeable and may have trouble breathing out of one or both nostrils. By the end of two weeks, typically, you will still be swollen but look more like you have a bad cold, rather than post surgical. Swelling can take up to a year to be completely gone, however, by 9 weeks you will look very good and should see big difference from your pre-op pics.
