Can hemorrhoids cause a capsular contracture?

Question

Hi I’m two weeks post op ba surgery and I’ve developed either a fissure or hemorrhoid due to constipation from the pain medicine ... I’ve noticed some blood on the toilet paper . Is this something I should worry about in regards to capsular contracture ? Do I need antibiotics?

Thank you for your question.  My strong advice is to consult with your physician regarding options to relieve your constipation.  I am unaware of any link between hemorrhoids and capsular contracture.  Best of luck.

Dear zskallo,Capsular contracture affects people approximately one in 20.  No one knows exactly what causes it and what can prevent it completely. It's important for your doctor to use a minimal incision and a Keller funnel as a sleeve to protect the implant from touching anything before goes into the breast pocket.  Singulair has been shown to prevent it.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS

There is no clinical evidence linking hemorrhoids to capsular contracture.  If you are having symptoms from your hemorrhoids, I would recommend getting them evaluated and treated by a general surgeon or colorectal surgeon.  I would recommend following up with your plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns regarding your breast augmentation 2 weeks ago and potential for capsular contracture in the future.  Best of luck.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no association between hemorrhoids and capsular contracture.  Of course, you should treat the hemorrhoids appropriately while having your plastic surgeon evaluate your augmentation results.

I am not aware of any link between capsular contracture and haemorrhoids.  You should seek the usual medical advice and treatment for your haemorrhoids.  Best wishes

It would be very unusual for an anal fissure or hemorrhoid to cause capsular contracture.  However it is very important that she seek appropriate medical treatment including stool softeners and laxatives and local antibiotic wound care of the anorectal area.
