Should I go through breast augmentation if I have Graves Disease?

any health condition should be well controlled prior to surgery. If you are concerned, you can also get saline implants which can be a good solution. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Dear Kimberly,The most important thing in the setting of your Graves Disease diagnosis is that your disease is stable, well managed, and that you have received clearance for elective surgery from your endocrinologist. If you have a dedicated endocrinologist who carefully follows your condition and he/she has cleared you for surgery, having a breast augmentation should in no way affect the course of your Graves Disease.

I understand your hesitancy to get silicone implants if you have Graves’ disease which is felt to be autoimmune. No one can tell you for sure what affect implants might have. But if you want more peace of mind consider getting saline instead. Saline implants one inside are often indistinguishable from silicone. I put them in all the time and patients are delighted.
