I've always been overly sensitive in my nipples. Could not breast feed, pumping was hell and short lived. My husband prettymuch isn't allowed to touch, as any touching feels uncomfortable. I've always wanted to reduce or eliminate sensation altogether if it were possible. I'm looking into having a breast augmentation soon, and wonder if there's anything that can be done during the procedure to address this?? Thank you!!
Answer: Is it possible to reduce or eliminate nipple sensitivity during a breast augmentation procedure? Thank you for sharing your question. Unfortunately there is no reliable way to reduce tissue sensitivity as part of an augmentation procedure.

Answer: Nipple sensitivity Hello, Nipple sensation can be affected by breast surgery but usually not in a predictable way. You can lose sensation or become more sensitive. I would recommend de-sensitisation exercises first. That means that you regularly expose your nipples to sensation and gradually build it up until it becomes less of an issue.

Answer: Not with any certainty... Thank you for your question. In most of our consultations we tell patients that temporary changes in nipple sensation are commonly seen after breast augmentation that could be either hypersensitivity or numbness, some times a combination. This is usually due to stretch injury of some of the sensory nerves that almost always recover to their pre-surgical state. In your case of hypersensitive nipples breast augmentation may indeed impact on nipple sensation in one fo the ways described, but there is always the possibility that they will be even more sensitive. We do know that the insertion if implants via an Areolar incision may reduce nipple sensitivity and although this is not as common approach this might be a good option for you to discuss with your plastic surgeon. Do your research and seek out an experienced board certified plastic surgeon whose results appeal to you based on his or her Before and After gallery. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Is it possible to reduce or eliminate nipple sensitivity during a breast augmentation procedure? Breast augmentation surgery typically does not aim to reduce or eliminate nipple sensitivity. In fact, most women who undergo breast augmentation surgery retain their nipple sensitivity after the procedure. The primary goal of breast augmentation is to enhance breast size and shape while preserving the functionality and sensation of the breasts as much as possible. However, it's essential to understand that there are potential risks associated with breast augmentation surgery that could affect nipple sensitivity. These risks include:1.) Temporary Changes: Some women may experience temporary changes in nipple sensitivity after surgery, such as increased or decreased sensitivity. These changes are usually temporary and resolve as the body heals.2.) Permanent Changes: In rare cases, there can be permanent changes in nipple sensation. A small percentage of women may experience decreased nipple sensitivity or complete loss of sensation after surgery. The risk of permanent changes in sensation is generally lower with modern surgical techniques.3.) Nipple Repositioning: If you are also having nipple repositioning or reshaping (nipple or areola reduction or adjustment) as part of your breast augmentation, this could potentially impact nipple sensitivity, but this is usually discussed with the surgeon before the procedure. It's important to discuss your concerns about nipple sensitivity with your plastic surgeon during the consultation process. They can provide you with a clear understanding of the potential risks and outcomes associated with the specific surgical approach they recommend. Surgeons take measures to protect the nerves that provide nipple sensation during surgery to minimize the risk of permanent changes. If nipple sensitivity is a significant concern for you, make sure to communicate this to your surgeon so that they can consider your preferences and provide you with the most appropriate options for your breast augmentation procedure.
