It is common to get swelling after fillers into the lips. It is not normal to have irregularities or severe swelling. If you are unhappy you should speak to your physician and have the area injected with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that reverses the hyaluronic acid filler. For the next injections, consider Restylane Silk with cannula injection, this technique will limit the pain, swelling or bruising after the filler placement. It often takes up to two weeks for swelling to subside on its own. Find an expert in filler injections for your future treatments. Best, Dr. Emer.
I wish we had a picture to see what you are describing, but I agree that after 2 weeks any swelling should have subsided and the filler has settled in. You should follow up with your injector and discuss your concerns. Often, this can be corrected with the addition of more filler. If ultimately you are not happy with your results then the filler can be dissolved using Hyaluronidase. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your question. If you have any other concerns please contact your treating physician. It is common to have some swelling after fillers for lip augmentation which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. You can apply cold compresses to the area to help reduce swelling and bruising. It is also advisable to avoid any NSAID’s before and after treatment as they tend to thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising and swelling. Best of Luck!
There are a few possibilities but ask your injector toconsider the following: Persitent brusing and swelling from the injectionsitself, persistent filler material, inflammatory nodules, granulomas andpossible infection as a cause. Need an opinion from an expert injector. I wouldsuggest to them consider injecting hyaluronidase or steroids into the area orpossible surgical consultation if it doesn't resolve after some time. Might beworth starting an antibiotic to cover your basis but difficult to advicewithout seeing the patient in person and knowing what was injected. If it ispersistent or you are worried, set up a follow up appointment with yourdermatologist.
Hello beautyem,As far as the unevenness goes that is related to the injection. By this time out the Juvederm should have settled and would no longer be uneven or having differences in swelling between the sides. Massaging this far out wouldn't really accomplish anything. Depending on how vigorous you were massaging you could have bruised yourself. The lips also have a great blood supply so they are very quick to swell if you massage too forcefully. If your swelling and unevenness are not to your liking within another week I'd recommend you follow up with your surgeon for further recommendations and treatment. I hope this helps and good luck.
I advise most patients to keep their hands away after fillers and not try to massage anything because it ends up causing more harm than good. At this point it's been 2 weeks and if there is unevenness you need to see your injector. Stop massaging. It is very critical to ensure that lips are perfectly symmetrical since small imperfections are very apparent. Based on your photo you do not appear to have permanent damage to your lips but there is clear asymmetry most pronounced on the right side of the upper lip. You should definitely see...
Many times an injector will try to create a desired outcome with as little filler as possible. This is understandable as filler is expensive and many patients are not able to afford the amount that would give them the optimal result or the result they ideally want. In addition, it is...
Thank you for the question and for sharing your photo. You certainly could have a little more filler injected to augment the lips even more. Your doctor was probably being cautious since it was your first injection.Good luck.
