I did a HA lip injection two weeks ago, my lips are still uneven. Yesterday after massaging them they got very swollen again. Is this normal?
Answer: Lip Swelling After Fillers Such as Juvederm or Restylane -- Reverse With Hyaluronidase It is common to get swelling after fillers into the lips. It is not normal to have irregularities or severe swelling. If you are unhappy you should speak to your physician and have the area injected with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that reverses the hyaluronic acid filler. For the next injections, consider Restylane Silk with cannula injection, this technique will limit the pain, swelling or bruising after the filler placement. It often takes up to two weeks for swelling to subside on its own. Find an expert in filler injections for your future treatments. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Uneven and Swollen Lips After Filler I wish we had a picture to see what you are describing, but I agree that after 2 weeks any swelling should have subsided and the filler has settled in. You should follow up with your injector and discuss your concerns. Often, this can be corrected with the addition of more filler. If ultimately you are not happy with your results then the filler can be dissolved using Hyaluronidase. Hope this helps.

Answer: It is common to have some swelling after fillers for lip augmentation which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. Thank you for your question. If you have any other concerns please contact your treating physician. It is common to have some swelling after fillers for lip augmentation which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. You can apply cold compresses to the area to help reduce swelling and bruising. It is also advisable to avoid any NSAID’s before and after treatment as they tend to thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising and swelling. Best of Luck!

Answer: Swelling (late) from Fillers There are a few possibilities but ask your injector to consider the following: Persitent brusing and swelling from the injections itself, persistent filler material, inflammatory nodules, granulomas and possible infection as a cause. Need an opinion from an expert injector. I would suggest to them consider injecting hyaluronidase or steroids into the area or possible surgical consultation if it doesn't resolve after some time. Might be worth starting an antibiotic to cover your basis but difficult to advice without seeing the patient in person and knowing what was injected. If it is persistent or you are worried, set up a follow up appointment with your dermatologist.

Answer: Swelling after Juvederm Hello beautyem,As far as the unevenness goes that is related to the injection. By this time out the Juvederm should have settled and would no longer be uneven or having differences in swelling between the sides. Massaging this far out wouldn't really accomplish anything. Depending on how vigorous you were massaging you could have bruised yourself. The lips also have a great blood supply so they are very quick to swell if you massage too forcefully. If your swelling and unevenness are not to your liking within another week I'd recommend you follow up with your surgeon for further recommendations and treatment. I hope this helps and good luck.
