What changes would you recommend for my wide nose? (photos)

Rhinoplasty could be used to narrow your wide nose. This would involve narrowing your nasal bones and also refining your tip as well. The exact method of treating your tip would depend on your anatomy.An open rhinoplasty approach would include a small incision across your columella at the bottom of your nose.A septoplasty can be done at the same time if it is crooked. From looking at your photos, I do think you would benefit for a rhinoplasty to refine the nasal tip and narrow the nasal base.  The rhinoplasty can be performed along with a septoplasty to correct a deviated nasal septum.  While the septoplasty may be covered by your insurance, the cosmetic rhinoplasty will not be covered. I prefer to use an open rhinoplasty technique which does leave a very short visible scar at the base of the collumela.  I have never had any problems with this scar healing poorly but you may express your concerns about scarring to your surgeon.  Good luck and be safe.John T. Hi,Your nose has some very nice features, but I agree with you that refining the tip would improve your nose significantly and provide a more harmonious relationship with the rest of your face.  When you visit potential surgeons, your deviated septum can be examined and a recommendation made regarding your breathing difficulties.  And yes, insurance does generally pick that cost up (depending on your specific plan of course).  I would recommend consulting with physicians who specialize in and perform many rhinoplasties.  Good luck.

Thank you for sending the photos. I can see some of what is bothering you. You have a narrow, thin face. Your nose seems a little wide for you. When you have breathing problems and a deviated septum, we can often combine the two procedures (rhinoplasty and septoplasty) leaving you with a lower out-of-pocket cost. Photo imaging is very important prior to surgery to make sure your goals and the surgeon's goals match. We use Vectra 3D imaging in my office.  I hope that information helps.

If you have documented airway obstruction due to septal deviation,. then a septoplasty can help.  As for the cosmetic appearance, you should be seen in person to review your concerns. Thick tissues can be a problem to refine the tip as much as perhaps you would like.

Closed rhinoplasty techniques can be used to perform a septoplasty and rhinoplasty procedure whereby all of the incisions are placed inside the nose. There is no external scarring. A septoplasty is performed when there is obstruction of breathing from twisted bone and cartilage in the back of the nose and is submitted to medical insurance for medical necessity. Co-pays and deductibles will still apply. The rhinoplasty procedure involves  changing the nasal components for cosmetic improvement, but  must be paid for by the patient. Rhinoplasty procedure can involve narrowing the nasal bones with osteotomies, suture techniques to the lower lateral cartilages of the tip to narrow and refine the nasal tip cartilages.
