I place the scars so that they are hidden in underwear. Sometimes, I will use an incision in the belly button as well.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
Visible scarring after liposuction is usually minimal, for both male and female patients. The size of your scars partially depends on the size of the incision made as well as the location on the body it was made. Since liposuction incisions are quite small, the scars left behind will also be small (normally just a few millimeters long). I also make an effort to place incisions in less visible areas or within the natural creases of the body. Even the more visible scars left after liposuction will fade over time.
This is one of the more common operations that I perform. Yes, I use an incision inside the belly button for most of the liposuction. Sometimes I need additional tiny incisions -- these are placed in the lower abdominal crease and are hidden by any bathing suit or even bikini underwear. If you wish to see some examples, look at the Torsoplasty section of my Before and After Gallery on my website.Elliot W.
