Answer: Tummy Tuck Drainage Normal Your drainage is completely normal. Some people simply produce more fluid than others. It's great if we can take drains out at one week, but some people require 1-3 more weeks of drains. As far as the color change is concerned, it can be explained by the liquification of any clot you have under your abdominoplasty flap. When you form little blood clots under your flap, which almost everyone does, they are the consistency of jello. After 7-14 days your body liquifies these clots for resorption. This liquification results in bloody appearing drainage. I know the drain is a pain, but you're doing great.

Answer: Drainage- normal or not Hi and thanks for your question. Yes, sometimes drains can be in for over two weeks. I would advise you to make sure that you are not doing a lot of bending and twisting motions (unloading the dishwasher, laundry.. etc) as this can cause more fluid production. Certainly follow up with your doctor if your concerned but hopefully in the next couple of days this fluid should start to decrease. Good Luck!
