I am scheduled with a surgeon that I trust for later next mo. I decided on Ideal Implants bc I worry about silent rupture. However I am starting to worry that they’re too narrow for my chest. Looking for some “second opinions”. I’m open to going a little bigger if that will help but (as much is I know it isn’t helpful to talk in cup sizes) I don’t want to be a D! I’m nervous if I do the Ideal they’re going to sit super far apart on my chest and look unnatural. open to suggestions. Help!
Answer: Ideal Implant Sizing Thank you for your question. Sizing with the Ideal Implant is very similar to what we do with any implant. In our office we use computer imaging and external sizers to help the patients determine what final size looks best to them. Even though base and width are important, I have not found this to be a problem in most patients who want an Ideal Implant. Discuss your concerns with your surgeon to be sure your expectations are reasonable. Good luck.

The ideal implant is designed to fill to either a moderate profile or a high profile. A high profile is relatively narrower at the base for the amount of projection but the moderate profile is similar in dimensions to a moderate profile silicone gel implant. In addition to the base width of your breast, the nipple to breast fold distance on stretch is also important in selecting a size. If your breasts are already far apart, then they will till be far apart after implants, whether you choose a silicone gel or an Ideal implant. I think your best bet is to discuss this with your board certified plastic surgeon. Ask to see photos of patients who are similar to you before surgery to get an idea of what to expect. The Ideal implants can look just as natural as the silicone gel implants when they are sized properly.
