I 100% regret my facial hair transplant. I wish I had never gone through with it. The doctor took 1000 single hair grafts. What can I do to get rid of what's been done? I'm fair skinned with dark hair. Can I laser it off? I'm so scared now that I've used up 1000 grafts. I don't have a family history of hair loss, but have I done enough damage to myself that I'll thin in my donor area? Can I put these back into the donor area, or does that risk further scarring? I'm worried and can't sleep.

Answer: Unhappy with Results The results of a hair transplant are mostly permanent. Those hairs are not subject to the same type of hair loss the rest of the hair is, at least not anytime soon. The only way to immediately and permanently undo the results of a hair transplant is to use laser hair removal. We have done this on patients who came to us from other clinics and were not happy with their results. We lasered the hair off and then did a new hair transplant they were happy with. You should note that this process will take time, and your skin may not look the way it did before, especially if there is visible scarring from the transplant. You can read more about laser hair removal on my site.

Answer: Facial Hair Transplant Yes, you can consider getting laser hair removal but I have no idea how bad the result is. You should discuss with your surgeon to see what he could do for you to solve this problem.

Answer: Transplant Removal You wouldn't be able to transplant them back to your donor area. As for straight removal, this is likely possible but consult with your doctor about the best way to do this where there won't be any lingering scars since it depends on how spread out the 1000 grafts were placed. It may be worth considering a second transplant depending on why you are unhappy.

Answer: Unhappy with results Thank you for posting this question. It is a very difficult situation and it is unfortunate that you are going through this, but there are some important questions to ask before I can give an answer:How long has it been since your procedure? It may not be long enough to see the final result yet.Why is it that you are so unhappy with the results of restoration? Were your expectations different than the results? Did you go over what your goals and expectations were with your surgeon before the procedure? Are you unhappy with the appearance? Is it not dense enough, or too thin? Does it not look natural enough? Are the hairs pointing in the wrong direction? Some of these issues can be dealt with by revising the restoration with additional grafts. Is it perhaps too early on to see the final results? These are all very important questions you need to answer. If you are unhappy only because you are anxious that you spent 1000 donor grafts on your beard, and that you may need them later on in the future if you have scalp hair loss, that's a different matter all together. If the harvest of the donor hairs was done properly and using FUE, you are highly unlikely to have any visible thinning at the donor site. You need to lose around 50% of the hair follicles in an area to have visible thinning. Most men have over 12,000 follicular units at the occipital scalp donor site, so 1000 will not make a visible difference. Can the grafted follicular units be removed? Yes, they could be, using FUE, but be advised that it will leave very small, bumpy scars at each location. They may be somewhat visible after you shave. Can they be placed back in the donor site - yes, but it really doesn't make a lot of sense to do that. There is no plastic surgery technique to remove hair from the beard area that will not leave significant scars, other than FUE. You can get rid of hair with electrolysis, but just like laser, that will destroy the follicles. You can use laser, but there is a risk of permanent discoloration, and you need to do a small test patch first.Perhaps you could post a few photos to show us what makes you unhappy.
