What is the post and prior requirements when doing the procedure of Cellfina? Alcohol, excercise, traveling by flight etc.?

I recommend to avoid alcohol the week before and the week after having Cellfina. This is to help reduce your risk for bleeding, bruising, and swelling during and after having your Cellfina treatment. We encourage our patients to sit, and even rock back and forth; as this will help to expel the tumescent fluid that is injected for numbing prior to the treatment. Our patients experience this "leakage" for about 24 hours, so we recommend to bring spanx with you, or black leggings to put on afterwards. Swelling is very common for most patients and just like with any cosmetic procedure, is only temporary and should resolve over about 2-3 weeks. Any #soreness, tenderness, or bruising will #resolve within a week. Patients can return to activities of daily living, to high-impact aerobic activity and may wear any clothing. Happy New Year!Thank you for your question.Cellfina is an FDA approved minimally invasive procedure that reduces the appearance of cellulite for at least two years on the buttocks and back of the thighs of women.



It works by releasing the internal bands that cause the cellulite dimpling and so we have not seen any fat atrophy. You should not see much of a difference with weight gain or loss but this also has not been studied.



Other areas of the body with dimpling, it is important to make sure it is truly cellulite before treatment.





It is common to have swelling bruising and firmness after the procedure. This can last for a few weeks.



It is different than Cellulaze which is a laser. 



If you have had previous poor results with cellulaze, you can still do Cellfina.



Cellfina has shown 100% noticeable improvement and 96% satisfaction in all patients at 2 years. 



Cellfina is designed to be a one time procedure. 



It can be used on women with all skin types but caution should be taken if theres a history of keloiding.





It can also be combined with other treatments such as Thermi or

We have done Sculpsure and Coolsculpting if fat reduction is wanted, but its best to wait 3 months to see the results before proceeding.

After treatment with the Cellfina System, patients have very minimal downtime. During the first 12 hours, the anesthetic solution from the procedure will seep out of the puncture sites. Patients may experience some bruising, soreness, and swelling. Alcohol should be avoided both before and after treatment with Cellfina as alcohol can increase the risk for bleeding and lead to more bruising and swelling. While patients are able to drive themselves home after the procedure, it is best to wait a couple days before travelling on an airplane. It is important to consult your board-certified plastic surgeon regarding any questions or concerns before having treatment with Cellfina. Good luck in your research!

Alcohol is a vasodilator and causes the blood vessels in the treated area to bleed more with more bruising and swelling. Alcohol should be avoided for several days after surgery. Patients are usually sore after Cellfina treatments but can be up and walking on the day of the procedure. Some swelling is normal afterwards. Patients can travel within a day or two of Cellfina treatments. Best bet is to obtain a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon near you for an evaluation and more detailed discussion of all of this.

It is is performed in the office in under an area.  The amount of fluid used depends on the areas to be treated.  This in turn dictates how much fluid there is to manage afterwards.  There otherwise should not be an issue with getting up and walking out of the office and traveling to wherever you need to go.

The recovery after a Cellfina treatment tends to be very easy.  Patients experience mild "leakage" of the numbing solution for about 24 hours following treatment.  Our office recommends patients wear absorbent pads under Spanx or yoga pants.  Sitting is completely fine following treatment.  In fact, we often recommend our patients sit and "rock" to encourage the numbing solution to leave the treated area.Alcohol is best avoided in the days before and after treatment to minimize bruising and swelling.  We also advise patients to avoid strenuous exercise for 2 weeks following treatment.  Traveling is typically okay a few days after treatment.  It is always recommended to follow the post procedure care instructions provided by your physician.  Cellfina is an excellent way to improve the appearance of cellulite with fairly minimal recovery time.  Many of our patients have returned to work the day after treatment.  Since the treatment is performed with only local anesthesia, patients are able to drive themselves to and from the procedure.

Normal moderate consumption of alcohol before or after Cellfina treatment is OK. The majority of women resume normal activities within 1-2 days with the exception of biking and very aggressive running. You can travel within a couple of days as well. We do recommend that you keep wearing your compression garment for  couple of weeks and drink plenty of fluids for the first couple of days.
