Can Cellfina also help with stretch marks?

Cellfina is an FDA approved device for the treatment of cellulite dimples on the buttocks and thighs. It is not necessarily a treatment for stretch marks. However, I have found that if cellulite is reduced after Cellfina, the skin is more tight and smooth. This makes the appearance of stretch marks look better. Treatment of stretch marks is best with laser resurfacing or skin tightening devices, however. 

Thank you for your question.Cellfina is an FDA approved minimally invasive procedure that reduces the appearance of cellulite for at least two years on the buttocks and back of the thighs of women.It works by releasing the internal bands that cause the cellulite dimpling and so we have not seen any fat atrophy. You should not see much of a difference with weight gain or loss but this also has not been studied.Other areas of the body with dimpling, it is important to make sure it is truly cellulite before treatment.

It is common to have swelling bruising and firmness after the procedure. This can last for a few weeks.It is different than Cellulaze which is a laser. If you have had previous poor results with cellulaze, you can still do Cellfina.Cellfina has shown 100% noticeable improvement and 96% satisfaction in all patients at 2 years. Cellfina is designed to be a one time procedure. It can be used on women with all skin types but caution should be taken if theres a history of keloiding.

It can also be combined with other treatments such as Thermi orUlthera if skin tightening is needed.

We have done Sculpsure and Coolsculpting if fat reduction is wanted, but its best to wait 3 months to see the results before proceeding.

It can also be done at the same time as other procedures such as liposuction and BBL or as a stand alone procedure in the office.

Unfortunately no. Cellfina is a minimally invasive procedure in which the fibrous septae that are woven throughout the fat in the thighs and buttocks are severed. Similar to a rubber band under tension, once released, the treated skin bounces back to smooth itself out. This will have no effect on stretchmarks. No, unfortunately Cellfina
is only for cellulite dimples on the thighs and buttocks. Stretch marks are a
completely different condition with a different underlying root cause, and as
such Cellfina will not have an effect on them. Other treatments such as a non-ablative laser such as ResurFX or microneedling may help to reduce the appearance of your stretch
marks. Please see a board-certified dermatologist for an evaluation to come up
with the best treatment plan for your concerns.

Unfortunately, Cellfina is not an effective treatment for stretch marks.  Cellfina is an excellent treatment for cellulite and works by severing the fibrous bands that result in the dimpled and puckered appearance of cellulite.  This would, unfortunately, have no effect on the appearance of stretch marks.  Stretch marks are very difficult to address and treatments vary based upon the appearance of the stretch mark (whether they are red, raised, white, etc).  I would consult with a plastic surgeon who offers multiple treatment modalities to determine the best solution to meet your needs.  Best of luck!

Cellfina will not treat stretch marks--it treats only the dimples of Cellulite but does that very well. Some success with stretch marks can be obtained with other modalities such as microneedling or laser.

Cellfina is a wonderful new treatment but is specific only for cellulite.  Cellfina works by cutting the band between the skin and underlying fat which causes the cellulite dimple.  Stretch marks are caused by tearing of the dermis.  I would suggest looking closely at microneedling (Dermapen) as a way to improve stretch marks.

Hello and thank you for the question.Cellfina has no role in improving stretch marks. The presence of stretch marks in the skin signifies a pre-existent scar of the skin at the dermal level.  This is best treated with a  series combination treatment of micro needling with PRP ( platelet rich plasma ) with alternate treatments of Fraxel laser. Warmest Regards,Glenn Vallecillos, MD, FACS
