I had silicone on bridge, ear cartilage on tip and donor's rib on the columella 3 months ago in Korean. Now I had a really bad infection starting from the skin broken down. i am on second day of antibiotics called Clindamycin. But it still didn't help my swollen on bridge.One of doctors I saw today suggested me to take silicone out first .But he wanted to wait few days until the swollen goes down.I don't like my nose job anyway. I wanted to take them all out and go back my original nose.

nose implants and infectioni agree that you should just remove it ,  especially since you are unhappy with the  result.if it causes skin erosion the problem will be much worse

I think it will be necessary to remove the silicone implant to
cure the infection. I would suggest you do it as soon as possible because infection

Unfortunately, I have seen this too many times and antibiotics will not calm this down completely. The implant will need to be removed eventually to prevent recurring infection. I would recommend you return to your doctor and have him or her remove it for you as soon as you can.

Dear Ming Liang, based on the photograph you show me and your history I would concur with your surgeons recommendation to remove the implant. If you leave it in I believe you may risk skin loss and for the complications and more deformity. At the very least you should be in the hospital on IV antibiotics. Please contact your plastic surgeon and arrange for this to be removed. Best wishes!

Your infection is most likely related to the presence of the silicone implant. Since you are fine with removing the implant and OK to be back to your original nose, It seems that you have made your choice already and I agree with you. You can not expect but more trouble from this implant, even if the infection settles for now.

Hi,Unfortunately if it is infected, it will need to come out. Antibiotics may reduce the inflammation but the implant will have to come out. Fortunately, silicone implants come out very easily unlike medpor.Best,Dr.S.
