I have always had hooded eyelids and they have become much worse after losing quite a lot of weight, making me look older than I am. Would this surgery give me the significant amount of lift that I’m looking for in order to have a more youthful face? Thank you.
Answer: Upper bleph You do have heavy eyelid tissues that could be a candidate for eyelid lift, but more importantly your brows appear heavy and low, which is causing worsening of the appearance of the eyelids. There's absolutely nothing wrong with your eyelids, but if you're hoping to improve the upper face consider addressing the brow problem as well. Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified. I've attached a link where you can start your search. Without an exam, it will not be possible to fully evaluate you and give you recommendations.

Answer: Upper lids It's difficult to tell from your picture because it appears as though the camera was above you. When analyzing upper lids its important to analyze the level of the eyebrow as well as excess skin on the upper eyelid. Although I cant be sure, an upper lid blepharoplasty most likely would be effective for you, however I would recommend you have a hands on examination by a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Answer: Elimination of the eyelid hooding. There is no question the blepharoplasty can eliminate the hooding. However, in some patients lifting the eyebrows could be as effective and, sometimes, a better choice. In patients a combination of eyelid and eyebrow surgery gives the best outcome. In general we try not deplete the upper eyelids. Removing small amount of fat deposits from the outside half of your eyelids could improve your eyelids a great deal. In the images of that you have posted your head seems slightly tilted down, which can make the judgement difficult. An in person consultation which provides the opportunity to raise your eyebrows manually, amongst other examinations, will be very helpful in advising you more meaningfully.

Answer: Would an upper blepharoplasty be effective for me? Fullness of the upper lids can be cosmetically improved with a number of surgical options depending on individual anatomy and desired outcome: an artistically performed conservative upper blepharoplasty, a repositioning of the brow if it is low, or a combination of both. Following the advice of anyone who would presume to tell you what to do based on a limited photo and more importantly without taking a full medical history, examining… SHOW MORE you, feeling and assessing your tissue tone, discussing your desired outcome and fully informing you about the pros and cons of each option would not be in your best interest. Find a plastic surgeon that you are comfortable with and one that you trust and listen to his or her advice. The surgeon should be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Hooded upper eyelids Thank you for sharing your question and posting your photograph. Upper blepharoplasty would enhance the beauty of your eyes; however, it is important to maintain your natural appearance and not over correct the problem. Make an appointment for consultation with an Oculoplastic Surgeon for comprehensive evaluation and discussion of treatment options. Good luck,
