Is it ok to play table tennis post 4 weeks of gynecomastia surgery? (photo)

Like most things, post operative guidelines and restriction are on the conservative side so that it can capture within it's safety net, the most number of patients.  I advise patients to abstain from intense physical exertion, including sexual activities, for at least 2 weeks and sometimes up to 4 weeks. The instructions I give are tailored to each patient and depends on the amount of bruising afterwards, the extent of the surgery, and the type and duration of the activity. Your situation of requiring an aspiration of fluid on one side would make me advise you to hold off on physical activity until the fluid collection fully resolves. Follow up with your surgeon and ask his advice when you are allowed to return to playing table tennis.

I let my patients resume physical activities depending on how they are healing, usually between 4 to 6 weeks, however, this is something you need to discuss with your surgeon who knows you best. Good luck.

Good day, Every plastic surgeon has his or her post-op instructions that patients need to follow and I do strongly suggest you follow your board certified plastic surgeons post-op instructions. As for my patients I recommend them to wait between 4 to 6 weeks before resuming any strenuous activity. Best of Luck! 

Your question is good and an important one but you really need to discuss this with your surgeon. Even if one of us were to tell you it's ok to resume your activities (having NEVER met you nor operated on you), if you did so and you developed a fluid collection or opened an incision or had some other issue, you would now be at odds with your surgeon regarding activity protocol. It is possible activities will lead to temporary increases in swelling but this usually has no long-term consequence. The sadfe answer is just ask your surgeon and explain your concern about your game suffering; many of us will loosen restrictions for certain types of procedures.
