I'm a type 1 diabetic with lypohypertrophy. What kind of cosmetic surgery can I have to reduce it?

Will i be able to inject there after having liposuction (After healing)? Due to the fat being taken away and the insulin having no where to absorb? Or is there an alternative surgery anyone would recommend?

Thank you for your interesting question. I would imagine that if your medical conditions, particularly your glucose levels, are under good control and monitoring, you would be a candidate for a variety of procedures. Liposuction could be performed, and then that fat used as a filler material for areas where your injections have damaged the soft tissues. I would meet w/ a trusted PS near you. Best wishes.

Thank you for the question. Lipohypertrophy can be treated by liposuction therapy. You will not be able to inject insulin in the area of liposuction for approximately 3 months. This is to allow for adequate healing from the surgery to occur. Although the procedure removes fat, it does not remove all of the fat and therefore you can resume injections on the area after healing. You can try coolsculpting or liposonix, but these procedures are not as effective as liposuction. I hope this helps. Best wishes.
