I had breast augmentation 12 weeks ago. I have been getting some mild pains here and there. Shooting and burning pains now and again. I have recently had some red marks appear. Are they stretch marks and is this normal ? If yes will these go?

Answer: Yes, Stretch Marks Yes, these are stretch marks. You most probably had them prior to your surgery, but with the implant, they are now more noticeable. If they both you, speak with your surgeon about IPL laser treatments. I've seen some really great results.

Answer: Red Lines On Breast 12 Weeks Post Op - Is This Normal? These red marks on your breasts are what are referred to as pre stretch marks. Stretch marks are not from stretching. They are a hormonal event. Hormones released from the pituitary cause an imbalance of female hormones which, very rarely, lead to true stretch marks.Basically, your brain thinks you are pregnant because your breasts are stretching due to the implants. Most of the time, this miscalculation on the part of your hormonal system subsides and no residual stretch marks remain. This is not a normal event. However, it is also not unheard of. In my practice, I would estimate possibly 2% of my patients have some degree of pre stretch marks, but rarely does this lead to permanent white stretch marks. There have been claims that Vitamin E on the skin or even intense pulse light (laserlike) treatments can decrease these pre stretch marks, but in my experience, these have very little effect on the final outcome. At this point, it is appropriate to seek consultation with your personal plastic surgeon.
