How long can you use a shotgun after breast augmentation

Question

I have a BA 6 weeks ago - mentor 500cc high profile silicone under the muscle. I used to regularly shoot and want to know how long I have to wait until I can safely shoot my 12 bore shotgun? Will it do any damage to the implants? Can it push the implant out of place?

Thanks for your question.  I would recommend speaking to your surgeon about gun use or any other activity that could potentially damage your implants.  Your surgeon is in the best position to assess your stage of wound healing.

Many thanks for posting your question - one that I don't think I've been asked yet!Regarding the position of your gun when shooting, it should not directly affect the breast, so I would think that 6-weeks after surgery should be ok.However, I suggest you see your plastic surgeon to get their advice, as they will be able to examine you and review the position of the stock in relation to your breast.I hope this helps!

It may already be safe to use a gun after 4-5 months postop to make sure your body has healed enough to accommodate strenuous work. It is important to avoid trauma on the chest area in any heavy activity.

Best to check with your surgeon on this.The mechanism of shooting probably puts more strain on your shoulder area rather than your implants.

Ask your surgeon for his recommendation for the shooting sport.  In general, it is a good ideal to wait 12 weeks before resuming this activity.
