Used to have Botox without any problems. I then developed Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria so didn't dare have Botox then as reacted to anything and everything, but am now on Xolaire and CIU has settled down. Would I be ok to have Botox again?

Answer: Botox while on Xolair Hi, I recommend you follow up with a board certified dermatologist regarding initiating Botox while on Xolair for chronic urticaria. As you know, the latter is an interesting condition in that many things (pressure, cold, water, light, among many others) can be potential triggers. Medications are often the cause of chronic urticaria. That I know of, Botox has not been implicated as a possible trigger, but it is possible. With that in mind, it is possible you could experience a flare if this is a potential etiology. It is also important your dermatologist screen you for possible disease associations with chronic urticaria. At the end of the day this is probably a conversation best had with your dermatologist to discuss the risks and benefits of restarting Botox. Hope this helps. Kevin Cavanaugh, MD
