Glabella lines run in my family and I have had them noticeable from 22 years old, but now one side is a really deep, permanent line causing people to comment if I am upset or angry. Even when I have tried to hold and stretch the skin, the deep line is very noticeable. I am now 51 and really conscious about it. Can anything be done please? In the photo I am nice and relaxed but still it looks like I am frowning!
Answer: Botox to Treat Frown Lines Thank you very much for your question and photographs. Botox is an excellent choice to reduce glabella lines, which can result from repeated muscle movement, such as eye squinting and smiling. The results from Botox can be seen one to two weeks after injections and will last up to three months. At this time, a repeat session can safely extend the results. I recommend that you schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon, experienced in providing Botox. He/she can explain the Botox process and show you before/after photographs of their recent patients, helping you to visualize the potential results.

Answer: Deep Glabellar line treatment Deep glabellar lines are something that have developed over many years of muscular activity. These lines, also known as "frown lines" or "11s", occur due to activity of the procerus and corrugator muscles. In most patients, the dynamic aspect of the lines (i.e., when they get the most noticeable during muscular contraction) can be dramatically improved with a neuromodulator such as Botox, Dysport or Xeomin. But in some patients with really deep static lines (when the face is at rest) even after the neuromodulator is in full effect, a deep line remains. Such patients often benefit from a little filler such as Juvederm Ultra or Restylane...but that area of injection is a bit risky (due to the tenuous blood supply) and should only be injected by an expert. Best of luck!

Answer: Can Inherited Glabellar Lines Be Treated? Botox Lets You Put on a Happy Face Botox can be used to relax the glabellar muscles so that they will no longer reinforce your frown lines. Without the pressure from the muscles, the skin gets to relax and smooth out. Because you've had these lines for many decades, they are deeply etched and will probably need to be filled in with Juvederm or another hyaluronic-acid based filler like Restylane or Belatero. The filler will last at least a year or more. The Botox will need to be re-administered every three to four months. These two treatments together will make a big difference in your expression and how you are perceived. Please consult a board-certified dermatologist who is an expert Botox injector to help you get a more relaxed look.

Answer: Botox to smooth lines Thank you for your question and supporting photo. You seem to be a good candidate for Botox injections. Botox is used to smooth the deep, persistent facial lines between the eyebrows, frown lines, crow's feet, horizontal lines across the foreheard, worry lines around the mouth and lines on the neck. This will relax the muscles that cause the wrinkles, thus smoothing the line that makes you look angry or tired. You will have a more youthful and rejuvenated look.
