Thank you very much for your question. Botox is aneffective injectable treatment, designed to smooth dynamic wrinkles. Made from botulinumtoxin type A, Botox is generally safe, with little chance for seriouscomplications. However, it is recommended that your wait four to six hoursafter receiving Botox injections before putting any products on the face, including face masks. Every physician will have their own set of post-treatmentinstructions, so I recommend speaking with your experienced, Botox providerabout how long they recommend waiting before applying an at-home face mask.
After Botox, we advise you to not exercise for 24 hours, to not lie on your face or lie down for 4 hours.Exfoliationis fine the next day.
Following a Botox treatment patients are advised to avoidexercising for 48 hours and are not to lay down for 4 hours to allow theproduct to settle properly. Patients can follow a gentle cleansing routine, but as anadded precaution, you should avoid aggressivetreatments such as exfoliation, masks and definitely no laser treatments for atleast 4 weeks following injections. If you have any doubts as to what treatments are safe and whichto avoid, always check with your aesthetic professional and together you cancreate a treatment plan that works for you.
I recommend gentle treatment and cleansing of the skin for 48 hours after Botox. After that time you can resume exfoliation.
I recommend to take it easy the firsts 24 hrs. Makeup is fine to apply afterwards but any sort of scrub that can penetrate the skin it is best to wait 24hrs.Hope this helps.Best of luck,DrC
I recommend waiting at least 4 hours before applying a mask and/or exfoliating. It takes 1-2 weeks for final results with Botox. Hope this helps.
Thank you for sharing your question. You can exfoliate and use masks within hours of Botox treatment as they will not impact your results. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your question javra. I understand your concern. Botox is a purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. When injected into the skin Botox will relax the muscles and smoothen out the overlying wrinkles. The most common areas of treatment are in the upper face. These include the horizontal lines seen on the upper forehead when one raises the brows, the vertical lines seen between the brows when one frowns (frown lines), and the crow's feet seen around the eyes when one smiles. With any injection, there are risks such as pain, bleeding, bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness, and infection. We take special precautions to minimize these risks such as using a painless technique. We also treat bruises with a laser as early as the next day. Bruises usually resolve within two weeks if untreated. After a laser treatment bruises usually resolve in 1-3 days, but may still take two weeks for full resolution. In addition to these risks, with Botox there is also a risk that the product spreads or diffuses to nearby structures. Spread to nearby muscles can lead to side effects such as the temporary appearance of droopy eyelids or a temporary asymmetric smile. After a Botox treatment, I recommend that my patients avoid heat exposure, alcohol consumption, and strenuous exercise for 24 hours and not lie down flat for four hours. This is because all of these activities may possibly lead to the movement of the product and consequent side effects such as droopy eyelids as described above. Although there have been no definitive studies shown that these actually occur and some physicians do not provide such aftercare instructions, in the absence of data I err on the side of caution and recommend that my patients avoid such activities.I tell my patients that they can apply their topical products the same day after a Botox treatment, just to ensure that there is no bleeding still occurring after the treatment. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. I recommend waiting 4-6 hours before applying any products on your face. Please consult with your provider. For more information, I recommend getting a in person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist.
Thanks for your post. There is no contraindication to having exfoliation/hydration mask immediately after Botox.Best wishes,Daniel Brown, MD, FACSBoard Certified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic SurgeonsMember American Society of Plastic SurgeonsCastle Connolly Top DocReal Self Top 500
