37 with jowls. What’s best for jowls: fat dissolving injections or dermal fillers? (Photo)

Question

I would like advice what’s best to do ! My main concern is my jowls as that’s the most noticeable! What’s best ? I’m worried fillers would give me a chipmunk look ! I want it to look contoured ! Is fat dissolving in this area a better solution ?

I appreciate your question and your photo. Based on the image, it appears your jowl formation is still early, so you should be able to effectively treat it with nonsurgical methods. I recommend filler treatment with Voluma, Restylane Lyft, or Radiesse to enchance the jawline and add symmetry to the lower face. In addition, I would combine treatment with Ulthera or Thermage to add skin tightening to the area. Make sure you work with a board-certified dermatologist with extensive training in injectable fillers to ensure you achieve the best results possible.

Your photo shows a recessed chin, which is creating a disproportionate look to your profile. I would likely recommend addressing this area first, using either filler or an implant to strengthen the chin. This would also improve your jowls. Volume and contouring of the cheeks can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra. Implants or fat are alternatives. Botox and radiofrequency can help slim and contour the jawline. Liposuction can help slim the face. Ultherapy, J Plasma and RF treatments can provide skin tightening and lift. Hello there,
      Correctly injected filler will not make you look like a chipmunk. That being said, you can target this area with other options. I would recommend filler below the cheek to support the ligaments that are causing the skin to fall forward. This will help to draw the tissue up and back. 
I also would recommend deep collagen tightening such as Exilis Ultra or Ultherapy to lift and tighten the jawline. 
If you don't see the result you are hoping for with the above options, then I would recommend some subtle filler in the cheek area to replace the volume loss there.

Thank you for posting your picture. Your jowls are only slight and you clearly have great quality tissue. Since you do have a small chin, I would suggest structural HA fillers such as Volux from the Allergan Vycross range. It can be used to give you a more define jawline and stronger chin, taking up the slight excess of tissue that's forming jowls. Such structural fillers can last for 2 or more years and are an excellent adjunct to any other procedures such as skin tightening.

You happen to have very little projection in your chin and having fillers such as Restylane Lyft placed into your chin and the surrounding area will create a stronger jaw-line and Chin projection. I hope this helps and good luck from York City plastic surgery
