Removal of pinpoint red spots on the skin (petechiae). Will laser treatment help?

Lasers are “tuned” to treat certain wavelengths of color. Color
arises when a molecule absorbs certain wavelengths
of visible light and reflects others. A chromophore
is the part of a molecule responsible for its color i.e. pigments in tattoo ink
or in your case hemoglobin in blood. A
pulsed-dye laser emits a beam that is “tuned” to be absorbed by the color
red. The chromophore (hemoglobin) in
your red spots absorbs the energy and destroys the small blood vessels in the
lesion. This treatment is very effective
for small lesions whereas larger lesions may require multiple treatments. The treatments are quick and relatively
painless (small rubber band snap).
