Delivering consistent quality, liposuction, results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who have mastered this procedure is in a small minority. Liposuction results has more variation in out, depending on who you choose as your provider and any other cosmetic surgery procedure. Because there’s so much variation in skill and experience when it comes to Liposuction and the consequences of poorly done, Liposuction is permanent any reversible patients should be highly selective when it comes to choosing providers. Being board-certified and Plastic surgery Does not mean that somebody has mastered Liposuction. Revision Liposuction is a difficult and many times more difficult than Primary Liposuction. The amount of potential improvement depends on the patient’s candidacy for the procedure in the first place and how aggressive the first procedure was done. If the first procedure was done in a very aggressive manner in the potential for improvement goes down significantly. It’s one thing to take an even fat distribution, do liposuction and reduce it, and keep it even. To take an uneven, fat distribution, and make it even through the process of liposuction is almost impossible. Some improvements are usually always possible. Treatment options usually come down to either revision, Liposuction, fat, transfer, or a combination of both. Recognizing that revision work as many times more difficult than Primary Liposuction the importance of findings officially talented, and experience providers goes without saying. For Primary Liposuction procedures, I recommend patient start the process by having at least five in person consultations. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patient who had similar body characteristics to you around. For reference and experience plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patient. The process of finding a provider to do Revision Work is more or less the same as the process for finding providers for primary procedures, with the exception of one fat transfer is needed. You need to vent the provider, not only in their skills for Liposuction, but also for fat transfer. For a vision work patient should be even more selective, then when seeking providers for primary liposuction. It’s not possible to restore you to pre-liposuction contour, but some improvements can probably be had. That said, revision work can easily make things worse if you don’t properly select the most talented provider in your community. Finding the right provider is the key to consistent quality outcomes. Generally speaking, patient should be far more selective when it comes to choosing Liposuction providers, and they actually are. Being board-certified and plastic surgery, having years of experience, or overall good reputation, does not mean that somebody has master Liposuction, is even good at Liposuction, or even likes doing the procedure. In the end, there are only 2 variables determine Liposuction outcomes. The first is patient candidacy, and the second is the skill of the provider. There’s no correct number of consultations needed to find the right provider. The more consultations you have the more likely you are to find the right provider.Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
