Uneven nose - will an alar base reduction fix this? (photos)

Question

I generally like my nose but feel it's too wide . My nose is uneven ( see photos) I'm due to have an alar base reduction in 2 weeks . Will this make my nose even?. It sticks out more on one side and I feel if both sides were the same I'd be relatively happy with it . I don't want a drastic change .

Based on these photos, you seem to be a candidate for alar rim cartilage graft to provide support and shape to smaller nostril. Only on the basis of in person evaluation one could give you more details about procedure needed. Good luck.

I would say that this is a case where, performed correctly, an Alar Base Reduction will improve the symmetry of the nose. It's extremely difficult to achieve perfect symmetry with nostril surgery, however due to the different size and position of the right nostril, I believe the Alar Base Reduction will prove a positive intervention.

Alar Base Reduction helps correct wide alar bases and alar flaring. It is normally done at the end of a rhinoplasty procedure. This is because all the maneuvers done during the rhinoplasty surgery can actually improve the nostril asymmetry and alar base asymmetry, and sometimes you don't need alar base reduction. If you're considering rhinoplasty - be sure to discuss all these points with your surgeon.

An alar base excision will help. I would be interested if your nose had similar asymmetry before surgery. I sissy's tell patients during their first consult that if their nose is crooked before there will be some crookedness after as well.

Alar base reduction can improve asymmetry but no surgeon can guarantee the outcome.
Rhinoplasty is always about improvement by means of reshaping, remodelling and refinement of your individual nose with its intricate anatomy. Rhinoplasty is not about making a complete change and achieving an absolute perfection.
It is paramount that you have discussed risks vs benefits of your surgery and have a realistic expectation before proceeding with this surgery.

Basically everyone have some degree of asymmetry in their nose. In your case you have more nasal flaring on right side compared to left. And alar base reduction will definitely be right surgery for you. Good luck.

From your photos, I note minimal-moderate alar base asymmetry. The larger nostril appears to demonstrate a slight flare. Careful and conservative resection of the alar base should improve symmetry at the expense of a small inconspicuous scar in the alar crease.
