Treatment for Skinny Ankles? (photo)

Question

Hi. I have always been very conscious of my very skinny ankles which are disproportionately smaller than my thighs and legs. I would love to have slightly thicker ankles that match the rest of me so I can be more confident when wearing dresses. Would there be any sort of treatment available for this? Fat grafting to the ankles is not commonly performed, but is likely the only way to add some fullness to the area. The problem is that there is a limited space to graft fat to in the ankles. The results after one session will be moderate in nature. Over-grafting can lead to higher risk complications such as blood clots and infection in the ankle areas. If you consider this procedure, expect to need multiple sessions and that could be costly.  The consideration ought to be whether it is worthwhile doing anything at all, given the costs, risks and moderate nature of the results. Dr. B.

While I have transferred fat to almost every place, the ankles may not be a great place for transfer.  This is probably the best way to enlarge that area, but it is not commonly performed.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
