What chin implant materials are probably safer than others?

Had jaw reduction.The surgeon took off about 4 millimeters! of my chin,as examined on CT scan. Now my excess chin skin dips under my chin bone.Now 2 dimples on chin. Everything about chin feels out of place(v.uncomfortable).Thinking of having chin implant to put my chin back to where it was.Will have it tailor custom made, according to my CT scan,wish to have my old chin back.What's probably a safer chin implant material?Silastic silicone, acrylic PMMA,what's good choice?What's not so safe?

Silicone Chin Implants have the longest and best track record for safety. Other materials such as PTFE are also safe and commonly used.

There is no single best chin implant material.  Silastic (aka silicone) implants have the longest track record for facial implants.  They have the main advantage of being easy to place, easily removed, little tissue in-growth, and malleable (allowing implant to be placed through a small incision).Gore-tex, Medpor and Mersilene Mesh are also commonly used and have the main disadvantage of having tissue in growth (making the implant difficult to remove).

Different surgeons will have different preferences as to what type of material they use for chin implants.  One type of implant is not necessarily safer than the others.  I prefer to use the solid silicone implants, as I have more experience with those than the others and obtain good results with them.  Some surgeons will prefer using implants made of other material.

Solid silicone implants have had a very good track record. Its imperative to fixate the implant with titanium screws as to prevent micro movement and shifting of the implant. This will allow the implant to be encapsulated and protected. I like the the custom implant from Implantech.
