Chapped lips after fat transfer to lips?

hi, just wondering if it is normal for lips to become very chapped after having fat transfer to lips? im currently sitting at day 3 and im little worried as some of the chapped (skin) has fallen of and lips feel a little tight.

I don't hear patients reporting this however, I suggest a topical steroid and moisturizer to the area for now.  If there is significant bruising, pain and swelling this may be dead skin and should be evaluated by your physician.  Otherwise, it should subside. Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question.  It is normal for patients to have dry lips after fat grafting to lips because more of your lip is exposed to the air.  At our office we have patients use aquaphor or Vaseline on their lips like chap stick.  Check with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon on his post operative care

It is normal for your lips to be chapped after fat grafting. The most common reason is because lip skin that used to be inside the mouth now is outside and it dries up. You can improve this with a little of Vaseline to your lips. Consult with your physician also.Hope this helps,Dr. Gus Diaz
