3 weeks after fue hair transplant and I think my hairs are starting to shed. However they have a kink at the end, is this normal? Is the follicle itself safe?

After the hair transplant operation it is normal to experience shedding between the 2nd week and the 2nd month. This situation is very normal. The transplanted hair will grow after the 2nd month.

It is best to ask your surgeon about post operative care as each doctor has their unique regimen.  Sometimes the "kink" and mean it was transplanted with a kink. There is no way to tell by photos alone.

It is common for the implanted hair shafts to shed several seeks after surgery.  The J hairs occur because of trauma to the  hair shaft during forcep implantation. In general the other aspects of the hair follicle may not be damaged and a new hair is expected to grow

Handling of the grafts during surgery can sometimes cause trauma to them which can lead to grow bend or curly after surgery.  This condition generally improves in most patients.

When a hair graft has a kink at the end (something we often called J Hairs), it reflects that the hair bent during the placement. No one knows if these hairs grow out normally, but they probably do.
