Good Afternoon and thank you for your question. Yes you can do micro needling while breastfeeding if your provider only uses pure hyaluronic acid for your treatment. You would never wants to use any type of acids on the skin. Regarding the numbing cream, you would want to consult directly with the physician as there are many compounds of numbing cream in order to determine whether or not that specific formulation is safe for lactating women. Best of luck to you.
You know, if you're breastfeeding the real issue is medications. The topical cream, or retinols, or alphahydroxy acid products are ones to avoid to be the safest, but it might make the microneedling uncomfortable. For now, consider a simple roller with some microneedles. You'll save money and it will be more comfortable until you're done breastfeeding.
It would be safe to have microneedling done while breastfeeding. I would recommend using PRP during your treatment. Numbing cream would not be recommended and depending on your pain tolerance the procedure can be done at lower depths.
Thanks for your question, jamiemh. Microneedling is safe while breastfeeding if your provider is using a pure hyaluronic gliding medium and are not using any products after the treatment that have retinols. Microneedling can be tolerable without numbing cream depending on the patient's pain tolerance and the depth of the needles/aggressiveness of the treatment. We perform microneedling on some of our patients without numbing cream and, while it is less comfortable than with the cream, the discomfort has been tolerable. Have your provider speak with the pharmacist who mixes their numbing cream to determine if it is safe for lactating women. Best wishes!
