Best alternative to Botox? Microneedling good for wrinkles on the forehead and old scars?

I just received botox. And while I'm happy with the results, I'm scared to do it again in three months. I felt ill for the first week and I had a slight droop. (I've seen worse though and you can't really tell). I'm trying to read what the next best thing would be for my forehead and in between the nose...but there is so much info. I have a tummy tuck scar that is still really red (2 1/2 years post op) and wrinkles on the forehead. Can anyone help??

In addition to Botox, fillers, lasers and microneedling/prp can all improve forehead wrinkles. For the tummy tuck scar, I recommend a combination of lasers and microneedling/prp. I suggest getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Hi- Botox is an excellent muscle relaxant that will help weaken those intense expressions (frown, raising brows) that cause the lines to deepen over time. It is always the first step for treating forehead lines. Fillers and resurfacing treatments (i.e. Fraxel) are also helpful. One of the latest treatments that we have had success with is Intensif (microneedling and RF). This is an alternative for deep wrinkles. But Botox should always be on board first because any filler/resurfacing treatments won't last if you continue making expressions :-) Best!
