Before a breast augmentation, green tea can have blood thinning properties. Speak with your surgeon who can best advise you.
Many substances have biologically active compounds. Apparently green tea has some of these but they are of no danger the breast augmentation.
Green tea has some slight effect on bleeding but should not cause problems like aspirin does. I would proceed with the surgery but you should definitely let your plastic surgeon know. I suspect you will be okay to the surgery done.
You should be fine since it will be 48 hours until your surgery. The most important things to avoid before surgery are aspirin, advil, herbal preparations, etc. Many of these products have unknown compounds added which can interfere with bleeding and anesthesia. it's best to just avoid most of these prior to surgery.
Good morning! I counsel my patients not to have any green teas for at least a week before surgery- it can increase your postoperative bruising. I would urge you to be forthright with your PS about this and let him/her decide what would be best. I hope this helps
I would let your surgeon know, but there should be no ill effects from this. Theoretically there can be some minor bleeding risks, but this is quite unlikely. All the best.
I do not see any real reason why that will cause you any need to be excited about any problems. There is no real medical literature that would suggest that your complication rates are going to be higher because you drink green tea prior to survey. Some doctors have their own anecdotal opinions about supplements, but there is little clinical evidence to support them. Recent literature in the New England Journal even shows that bleeding risks are not higher if you take ibuprofen like we once thought. Aspirin is different, it can increase bleeding risk and that is well known in the medical literature.
Hello Vicky The health benefits of Green Tea are well know and thats the reason for its popularity. Before a Cosmetic Surgery operation such as Breast Augmentation, it is recommended you stop drinking green tea to reduce the risk of bleeding that may affect your outcome. Here is what I think can be done in this case. Speak with your Plastic Surgeon who can best advice you. 2 cups may not make a difference, but let your PS make the decision
Thanks for your question. There is no published data that shows any potential adverse effect from drinking green tea around the time of your surgery. There is some data that talks about the impact that herbal medications can have: some of these might impact platelet function, and increase bleeding time slightly. The actual clinical impact is quite subtle. Your surgeon may have preferences about this, the safest thing is to check with them- but my gut feeling is that you will be just fine. Good luck! You should ask your surgeon about this. It may be okay, but you should get the okay directly from your surgeon. Why not take Tylenol instead?
Congratulations on your breast augmentation! Sounds like you are doing well and had a easy recovery. I typically ask my patients to not take any supplements 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks post surgery, diet supplements off for 1 months prior and 1 month post. As for exercise, I'm...
It is very difficult to predict what cup size you will be after your procedure. Cup sizes are not standardized. So a D cup in one designer could be a C cup or B cup in another designer. This is the approach I use to help guide my patients with their implant size selection: I consider two...
