Is lipo safe on the face cheeks?

This is a very risky procedure unless done by someone very meticulous. I suggest you ensure this is what you want.  Most people as they age lose fat in this area and need fillers later to replace the lost volume. I try to convince my patients of facial liposuction unless it is on the jawline or neck for contouring, because when we age you will want the volume back in the cheeks if you take it out now.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Some plastic surgeons will do selective liposuction on the face while others will not.It's possible to have facial nerve damage from the procedure. In particular, the buccal branch, which can make the lips move differently, is at risk for being damaged during this procedure.If liposuction is done on the face, it needs to be done gently with very small cannulas.I would stay away from power-assisted liposuction or VASER.Another option to consider is a buccal fat pad reduction.I would make certain whoever is taking care of you has an impeccable reputation and carries board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
