Hello and thank you for your inquiry. Coolsculpting is a wonderful option that is FDA approved, non invasive alternative to treat stubborn subcutaneous fat. An in person consultation is always recommended to determine if you are a suitable candidate for the procedure. Screws in the area of treatment is not a contraindication. There are other non invasive treatments that involve heat, ie radio frequency, in which having screws and metal implants in the area would be a direct contraindication.
When a CoolSculpting procedure is done on the abdomen, skin and fat are drawn into the applicator. Normally, there would not be any screws or metal placed into the skin or fat of the abdomen, so the treatment should be able to be done.
Hello and thank you for your question! Coolsculpting treats the subcutaneous fat by suctioning it into an applicator. Any metal in your pelvis or abdomen would not be in this layer. There are also no contraindications for metal implants. I would have a consultation with a CoolSculpting specialist to discuss your concerns so they can recommend a personalized treatment plan. I hope this helps! Good luck.
Hello and thank you for your question. CoolSculpting will have no effect on your metal implants. We specialize in CoolSculpting at my Los Angeles-based practice. I personally have hundreds of hours of experience with the procedure. It works through a process called cryolipolysis—a curious phenomenon that happens when fat cell are brought down to freezing temperatures. The fat cells die after prolonged exposure to the cold metal paddles in the CoolSculpting applicator. But your skin and other tissue are left unharmed. Other methods of non-surgical body contouring involve the use of radiofrequency energy. This technique is also effective. But it is not recommended for patients with metal implants. Imagine a spoon in the microwave. The RF energy reacts to the metal. Cold does not.
Hello there, Other body contouring options utilize radio frequency and heat to stimulate collagen and melt fat. Those treatments (Exilix, Emtone, Vanquish) can not be done on patients with metal in their body. Coolsculpting is not a contraindication for you since heat/energy is not involved. As long as the metal/screws are not being pulled up into the applicator and are not causing you discomfort during the treatment, you are fine to proceed. Hope this helps. -Sarah RN BSN
Thank you for your question. There is no contraindication for metal implants. Coolsculpting is absolutely safe for you to do on your belly (or other body parts) if you have metal screws or metal implants in your abdomen or anywhere else. The cold only effects the fat in the immediate treatment area. Coolsculpting is targeting fat for a short depth underneath the individual applicators and doesn't have a distant effect on other parts of your body. If you have any further questions or concerns, I recommend reaching out to your CoolSculpting specialist/provider. Best of luck with your treatment!
CoolSculpting is generally unsafe if you have a hernia, in which case you should hold off. Wait until you are fully healed then contact a qualified provider or a board-certified physician with extensive experience in these procedures to see if you are qualified for the treatment.
Thank you for your question. I don't see any problem using your light based therapy following Coolsculpting when properly used.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.
CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure that uses a vacuum applicator to draw in skin and underlying subcutaneous fat to deliver controlled cooling. This penetrates below the skin causing permanent elimination of fat. It can be administered in a variety of areas on the body, including the jaw...
