Is micro needling any good for removing tattoos is it faster?safer? And do you see better results with with
Answer: Microneedling does not work for tattoo removal! Microneedling (DermaPen and others) involves fine needle puncturing of the skin areas where new collagen is desired. The microtrauma to the dermis causes a true healing process where new collagen is formed, tightening the surface and reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and improving texture.Microneedling is no more likely to cause scarring than the initial tattoo, but it does not remove ink to any extent at all, even though there is a healing element to create results after these treatments.Laser tattoo removal remains the state-of-the-art means by which tattoos are lightened and removed, with multiple treatment sessions being required. But microneedling does NOT remove tattoos.Faster--no way! Safer--not if it doesn't work. So don't waste your time or your money. BTW, where did you get this idea? I hope it was not offered to you by a licensed health care provider, because they have no clue if this is being advertised as an appropriate treatment for tattoo removal. Best wishes! Dr. Tholen

Answer: Microneedling for tattoo removal Hi Jose. Microneedling is a terrible idea for tattoo removal. It will not be faster than lasers and in fact there is so much trauma that you will very likely have permanent scarring. The idea with laser procedures is that the light passes through the surface layers of skin and concentrates the heat below at the point where it interacts with the tattoo ink. Microneedling is the opposite, it makes mincemeat out of the surface of the skin, which is what causes the scarring. If you do consider this method, ask for before and after pictures like the ones you see at the link below. They are unlikely to have any.
