My upper lip pertrudes out further than bottom. is it lip filler or lip flip that is causing this?

I had lip filler 6 months ago and there was migration above lip. We dissolved and it looked fine, so I got a lip flip. Now my upper lip sticks out further than bottom. Is this from lip filler or can a lip flip be strong enough to cause this?

That is a great question. Your upper lip is fuller than the lower, while the opposite is the norm (upper to lower lip ratio is 1.6:1). The change likely came from the lip flip and may need to be revised by the surgeon if it does not improve spontaneously over time. Adding filler to the lower lip is a quick fix as it provides more volume on the lower lip and creates balance and natural-looking results.

It's difficult to determine what is causing your concerns without more information.  Typically Botox gradually wears off after 3 to 4 months, so if it you had treatment 6 months ago the Botox should have worn off.  Depending on the type of filler used you may have some residual filler present.  I encourage you to visit with an expert injector near you for an evaluation.

Hi Loving316656, this is a great question. It appears that your upper lip is fuller in volume. So, correcting the balance would require adding filler to the bottom lip, mainly in the center. The lips should have an ideal ratio of 1:1.6, with the bottom lip having slightly more volume. If you feel this change happened after the lip flip, you can just let it wear off (about 2 months) and see if it resolves. However, this is most likely not the cause.
