41 y/o female had my last baby via c-section about 1.5 years ago. I’m in really good shape but can’t seem to tighten my stomach. I also got the dreaded c-section shelf with my second baby. I’m naturally really thin (5’6 110-115lbs and size 0/2) but I hate the way my stomach looks. A tummy tuck seems so invasive and scary. Are there other options?

Answer: Tummy tuck results require surgery Tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty surgery, addresses loose skin and separated muscles (rectus diastasis). Both of these are visible in your photo. Unfortunately there's no way to get the results of a tummy tuck without surgery. The recovery can be tough for the first couple of weeks. But seeing a surgeon who offers drainless abdominoplasty surgery with nerve blocks can really make the recovery easier. I offer drainless tummy tucks for patients with a BMI below 30, and I do nerve blocks on all of my patients. Surgery is outpatient- so you go home the same day.

Answer: A tummy tuck is your best option, nothing else will address all your concerns Although you are very thin and in shape, you have excess skin and a scar from your children. The only way to effectively address the excess skin and fix the scar/shelf at the same time is a tummy tuck. Although the scar would be longer than the c-section scar, a tummy tuck isn't that invasive of a procedure, most patients at our practice are back to work within the week and just have to be careful with how much and how heavy of lifting they do for a while. You would be a GREAT candidate for a tummy tuck and would have a fabulous result since you have kept in shape and just have some minor problems that could be fixed (excess skin and c-section scar)

Answer: Tummy Tuck Thanks for your question! Hard to tell from your photo. You would benefit from an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options. Best wishes!
