There could be a suture in there that is keep it open. If no suture is found I would cut that area out and close it again. Probably would heal just fine second time

When an area heals over and then closes back up only to open up again there is usually an underlying cause of chronic inflammation in the area, such as a fluid collection, non-dissolved suture, or permanent suture which is colonized with bacteria. I have seen this a couple times and the only way to deal with it after you are this far out from surgery is to explore the area and try to remove the cause of the chronic inflammation.

Thank you for your query. The reason for this can be a stitch, a non dissolving one that the skin is reacting to. The second reason could be an unstable scar in the area of repair. In either case the area has to be opened up, any granulation tissue or suture removed and then sutured back. Please discuss your options with your plastic surgeon who can help[. All the best!

It could be a suture that has worked its way to the surface. Or it may be unrelated to your tummy tuck. Either way, please see your surgeon for an inperson assessment.

Hi, I think this is most likely a suture granuloma- your body decided to react to one of the sutures used and developed some chronic inflammation. Regardless of cause, at 2 years postop I would recommend excising the area and re-closing.

You might have a permanent suture that is infected and won't let that area heal. I would suggest getting an ultrasound of your abdomen first and a culture when it is open. That area may need to be excised.

You may have a little suture knot that is keeping that area from healing completely. Your surgeon can address this in the office. Once the knot is removed the area tends to heal well with minor home care.

Things that will not heal when they should typically have an explanation.
In your case, you most likely have a contaminated suture that needs to be removed.
