I had a rupture in my left breast. This is the 4th revision. The dr I chose gave me a left breast that just hangs in the skin and left a massive hole. It's not attched to any part of my body and hurts terribly. The right implant was placed too low on my chest, I now have a double bubble and the scar is in the middle of my breast rather than below. I also recieved the absolute worst sew job ever. My scars look like a first grader did it. They are huge, bumpy awful scars. Please help!
Answer: Unfortunate Outcome The issues at hand cannot be determined by these photos. You will need to see a few experts in revision breast surgery. The good news is that almost always things can be made much better.

Answer: Revisions The right breast could be improved on by excising the new inframammary fold and cleaning out the old scar. This can be done ever under local anesthesia. In terms of a double bubble, that can be released and has to be done in the operating room under general anesthesia. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Botched revision - need another one Double bubble deformity is often seen with submuscular implants when the muscle detaches and retracts upwards . I correct these by placing the implants above the muscle, under the fascia and fixate the inframammary fold

Answer: Breast implant and breast lift revision Dear Unlucky, Although the photos are not ideal and we don't have the full details of each of your procedures, the issues are obvious. It appears that you need to have the right breast fold reconstructed, by whatever technique is chosen, and either a wider based implant on the left or placement of the implant under the muscle if not already in that position. Good luck!

Answer: Cosmetic surgery outcomes I cannot emphasize enough the importance of provider selection when it comes to having any cosmetic surgical operation. Breast implant surgery is no exception. Revision surgery is generally more difficult and more complex than primary procedures. There are generally three variables that determine the success of breast augmentation surgery. The first is the patient’s candidacy for the proceeder. The second variable is the selection of implants The third variable is the skill and experience of the provider. The following are some general guidelines to help find the best provider. To find the best provider, I suggest patient schedule multiple in person consultations with experienced plastic surgeons in their community. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures of previous patients who have similar body or facial characteristics to your own. An experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. An experienced provider should in fact have hundreds or preferably thousands of before and after pictures to choose from for commonly performed procedures. Being shown a handful of preselected images, representing the best results of a provider’s career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results will look like in the hands of each provider. There is no correct number of consultations needed to find the best provider. The more consultations you scheduled the more likely you are to find the best provider for your needs. Take careful notes during each consultation, especially regarding the quantity and quality of before and after pictures. It’s not a bad idea to bring pictures of your own body/face to use as reference when reviewing before and after pictures. The biggest mistake patients make is scheduling only one consultation without properly vetting or comparing providers before scheduling surgery. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
