Is Botox safe for a sensitive person with allergies?

Xeomin is a type of neuromodulator like botox and dysport. All 3 can do the job well but xeomin is probably the best for sensitive patients.

Hello mymomrocks64,Botox is a very safe medication when used properly.  Having a history of allergies or food sensitivities should have no impact on how you will respond to Botox.  The way that allergies work, you cannot have a reaction the first time you are exposed to something.  So you have nothing to worry about on your first treatment.  A few people have had reactions to the solution used to mix the Botox in the office, but you can use preservative free solutions to avoid this issue.  I would recommend you discuss your concerns with your injector prior to injection, but nothing you have mentioned would make me concerned about injecting you.I hope this helps and good luck.  

It's impossible to say how you will react to Botox. I will say that there is nothing in your history that says you will have a reaction to Botox. I have only seen one patient react to Botox and we discovered that it was the preservative in the saline used to suspend the Botox rather than the drug itself. Changing the saline eliminated her mild reaction. You could try a small dose "patch test" before a full treatment. You could also take Dr. Ort's suggestion which is very wise and start with Xeomin which is a "pure" toxin without all of the proteins associated with Botox. If you are concerned about allergies, do a little Botox in your forearm. I've have never seen allergies to any of the neuromodulators. It is a very safe medication. There is albumin and an egg extract in the mixture so you can't be allergic to these products if you want Botox.

If you are concerned about an allergic reaction, you could consider Xeomin instead of Botox.  Xeomin is a more pure product compared to Botox without complexing proteins.  I use a lot of Xeomin in my practice with great results.  However, the overall risk of allergic reaction to either product is very low.Regards,Dr. Ort

Botox is indeed safe for people with environmental and food allergies.  It is mixed with saline and administered in non-latex syringes.  You should have no issues.

In general Botox is extremely safe especially if administered by an experienced physician. Even patients with "sensitivities" tend to tolerate this treatment very well so the likelihood of you developing a severe reaction is minimal. in the event that Botox is not the right choice, in some patients with deeper lines (glabellar lines)  injectable fillers can also be utilized.
