I'm seeing where some physicians recommend lymphatic massage after lipo and tummy tuck to assist with drainage of the swelling. Would it be of any benefit to have an initial lymphatic massage prior to having these procedures to in effect ensure there are no current lymphatic drainage issues which may cause problems after the procedures?

It’s not essential but it does speed up recovery. In our practice we start the lymphatic massage day two. Always confirm with your primary doctor whether or not this is ok to do.Best of luck,Dr. Millard

Lymphatic massage certainly will not hurt you after a mommy makeover and there could be some benefits. But the scientific evidence of such benefits is limited. I do believe that massage can help to soften scars and scar tissue after surgery, but whether or not it dramatically improves swelling...
