Tummy Tuck High Blood Pressure Afterwards?

Mine was 177/116 after surgery on the 2nd night at the after-care facility. The EMT's were called because my blood pressure was so high. I was carted off to the emergency room and spent 2 days hospitalized. Before the surgery, my normal blood pressure was 115/75 (or around that). It's now been 2 weeks and 2 days and my blood pressure is back to normal. My cosmetic surgeon doesn't know why it happened.

Two suspects that can cause high blood pressure after surgery include pain, and adrenaline, which was given along with any local anesthetic that was used. 

	It is good to hear it is back to normal. Hopefully the hospital has suggested outpatient follow up for a few more blood pressure checks.

No one will likely ever be able to exactly tell you why your blood pressure went so high.   Certainty you need to connect with your doctor and have an extensive evaluation for hypertension.  This could have been your response to pain but your response to any aggravating stimuli could cause a repeat.  You must pursue a workup and get an answer and treatment.   Then you will be safe.  Keep a blood pressure cuff device at home and check your BP every am and pm.   High blood pressure surges  can cause strokes so do pursue this.  My Best   Dr C
