I am skinny with not a lot of breast tissue. I like the idea that the Natrelle (4th generation) implant will look and move more naturally and be softer. However, I am concerned that because I do not have a lot of breast tissue some rippling will be seen. But I am concerned that the highly cohesive Mentor implant will give a round, stuck on shape to my breasts rather than the natural slope. What is your experience with this?
Answer: You will do well regardless of implant type Depending on your goals and physical exam, you will most likely not see that much difference between the two types of breast implants. The traditional round implants may feel softer but you will not know that because you will have the same type of implants in both breasts. You have many other options today including the Inpspira and HSC+ gel breast implants that I would see a plastic surgeon who will help you select the best implant to achieve your goals.Best Wishes,Nana Mizuguchi

Answer: Choosing the Best Breast Implant Thank you for your question. For someone like yourself that does not have a lot of breast tissue, in my practice my favorite implant to use would be the Sientra, highly cohesive, textured implant. Because you have little breast tissue your risk of rippling and "implant show" is increased. By using the Sientra implant you are getting a high implant fill ratio which lowers the risk of rippling. They make the most highly cohesive gels in the market in a round implant with texture. They will give you a soft, natural look and feel and have a decreased rate of capsular contracture and rippling. You should find a board certified surgeon in your area who uses Sientra and take a look at the differences. Good luck to you.

Answer: Choosing Breast Implants This question is best answered during an in person consultation with your surgeon after an examination. Choosing an implant is complex and individually based. In general, the new generation silicone implants will have a softer feel and it sounds like you have some very educated questions about which implant to choose. Your surgeon will be able to help guide you through this process to give you the results that you are trying to achieve. #PlasticSurgery #BreastAug #Implants #BreastImplants #choosingimplants #surgeryprep

Answer: Skinny (5'8"; 130lbs; AA)...4th generation versus 5th generation silicone implant? I appreciate your question. The size of implant is dictated by your chest wall measurements. Once we determine that we can choose the profile based on what you want or need to achieve. Silicone will give you a fullness at the top (upper pole fullness). Silicone implants come pre-filled with a silicone gel and are the softest implant available. They feel more natural, which makes them a good option for women with less natural breast tissue; but they require a larger incision. It may be more difficult to realize if this type of implant has ruptured, so it is important to monitor them with annual follow-up visits. Additionally, because this implant contains a more liquid silicone (less cross-linked), if this implant should rupture, it will leak only into the scar capsule formed around the implant but may cause some discomfort or implant distortion. Anatomic gummy bear implants might be a good choice to give you volume. These highly-sought-after, anatomic implants offer a look that more closely resembles the natural silhouette of a breast, and, therefore, are a very attractive option for individuals seeking a natural-looking, aesthetic primary breast augmentation. Additionally, these implants are an especially excellent option for patients undergoing restorative or corrective breast surgery because they provide more stability, shape, and reduced incidence of capsular contracture. Compared to other types of silicone gel implants, the silicone in the cohesive gel implant is more cross-linked; therefore, should the implant shell “rupture,” it maintains its shape and silicone does not leak. During your breast augmentation consultation, you should feel the different types of implants available, and try on various implant sizers in front of a mirror to help you to get an idea of how you will look following the surgery. You should also bring pictures of the look you would like to achieve, as well as a favorite top to wear when trying on implant sizers. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery. best of luck! Answer: Shaped implants Thank you for your question. I have used both Allergan and Mentor shaped implants and I can not tell a huge difference in the patients post-operatively between the two companies. Most importantly is to have a consultation with a plastic surgeon to review your anatomy and the available implants based off your desired look. Good Luck!
